Dominion is a deck-building game where players are monarchs building up their kingdoms through "purchasing" land, goods, power-ups, or victory points from the available piles of cards. You can also sabotage your opponents by causing them to draw curse cards, which negate victory points. At the beginning of the game, you start with a small collection of estates and copper coins, but you work to collect gold bars, provinces, and many minions to carry out your bidding. The player with the most victory points added up at the end of the game wins! Designed by Donald X. Vaccarino, Manufactured by Rio Grande Games.

Dominion is, in my opinion, a good, gentle game to be able to chat over while still having fun competing for the greatest kingdom. Unless you're great at paying attention at other people's cards, you'll never be able to tell who's beating you as you play, so it adds a sense of urgency to win. If you play with one or two expansions added in, you'll never get the same game twice. It keeps your strategy skills sharp by knowing when to get specific cards and when to wait, which is why I enjoy playing. I recommend this game for a slightly more mature demographic, since I'm sure smaller children won't be able to really appreciate the game-play. But for those who love planning things out, timing, and a calm atmosphere, this game is for you.
